Biography
Born in Mexico City in 1969, studied at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and specialized in etching at the School of Fine Arts of Rome, Italy. Upon his return to Mexico, he received the Young Creators Scholarship from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts. In 2002, he won the Artistic Excellence of France scholarship and resided at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
In 2023, the city of Sarcelles awarded him the 1st prize of the International Biennial of Etching and in 2024 he made a creation residency at the National Museum of Natural History and the International City of Arts in Paris.
Parallel to his personal artistic production, Fernando Aceves Humana was co-founder of the Char-Rufa etching workshop at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh the first etching workshop in Cambodia, of the Toot Yung workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, and La Buena Impresión lithography workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico a space dedicated to professional artistic production and education for young people from rural communities. He has taught this technique in various workshops, as well as at those of the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome (Italy) and at the Schools of Fine Arts of Vientiane and Luang Prabang (Laos), and in 2025 was invited by the University of Texas at Austin USA to offer lectures at the LLILAS-Benson Institute of Latin American Studies, an etching workshop in Flat Bed Contemporary Prints and obtained the LLILAS-Benson Scholarship to reproduce documents in natural pictographic writing prehispanic from the early Novo Hispanic period in Mexico, preserved in the Nettie Lee Benson Collection.
His drawings, oils and prints have been exhibited internationally in Mexico, the United States, England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Senegal, China, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. His works are part of the collections of prestigious museums in Mexico and abroad.
He currently resides in Oaxaca, and is a member of the National System of Creators.
